Tortured genius...that was the phrase Dr. Karen Arkin, Dave McQuitty's nuerologist, used. The creativity runs deep. By age 9, he was selling his paintings to his neighbors in rural Missouri . He supported his quest for an art degree by singing in a band.

When he discovered Jackson Pollack, it was an emotional awakening.

"Art was literally killing me. I became obsessed with projects. I worked for hours and it never seemed good enough," McQuitty went on to say, "I weighed 125 pounds and was emotionally falling apart." At age 21, he left painting behind.

He added a Masters Degree in Business Administration to his degree in commercial art.

You can't turn off creativity. In the following 35 years, McQuitty built a music business that generated millions per year.

The urge to paint kept pulling him back to the studio. When he took a few new pieces to be framed, gallery owner Peter McCoy, recognized the remarkable quality of McQuitty's work and insisted on hanging pieces in his Central Park Gallery.

Today, Dave McQuitty's work can be found in several galleries and private collections of distinction.
